I’m teaming up with Marie Callender’s this month to help launch the annual Comforts from Home Project; bringing the comforts of home to U.S. service men and women overseas. Marie’s is hosting a Facebook challenge and we want to see your photos! Every time a photo is shared using the tag #comfortsfromhome, $1 will be donated to Operation Celebration.

When you imagine “Comforts from Home,” what comes to mind?

A person sitting in a living room

I have this corner in my house with a cozy chair, the softest blanket, a cushy pillow, and a little table next to the chair stacked with whichever books I’m reading at the time. There’s just enough room on the table for my coffee cup.

I love to start my day in that chair with my to-do list and just a few minutes all to myself. I miss it when I’m away and it has become one of my favorite spots in the house.

This is the chair where the kids find me in the morning, and where I like to read and snuggle with them before bedtime.

It likely doesn’t surprise you that my next thought when it comes to comfort is FOOD. I love all the delicious foods that we eat at home and share with friends: dinners, snacks, desserts, healthy foods, junk foods.

Anything that brings a smile to my face = comfort for me. My favorite foods change from time to time, but these are a few of the recipes that I turn to over and over again, whenever I’m craving comfort.

I’m excited to tell you about Operation Celebration today, a program that shares a bit of home for our troops that are stationed overseas and helps them celebrate the holidays all year long. This year, Marie’s is hosting a Facebook challenge. We want to see your photos! – use #comfortsfromhome and tell me what home means to YOU? (I had so much fun thinking about my favorite Comforts from Home, I can hardly wait to see your photos!)

Scripps Network will donate $1 to the USO for each photo received (up to $10K) • User photos may be featured on air for the following shows: • Kitchen Crashers on DIYNetwork & HGTV – Airing 11/9 and 11/14 • American Heroes on Travel Channel – Airing 11/9 • Guy’s Grocery Games on Food Network & Cooking Channel — Airing 12/15 and 12/19 •

You can check out the Comforts from Home website here, and learn more about both the Facebook challenge and USO Operation Celebration™ itself. In addition to the Facebook challenge, every time you enter a code from specially marked product packages, Marie’s will make a donation to the USO to support their Operation Celebration program. This helps bring a little bit of home to our troops during the holidays.

Disclosure: I’ve partnered with Marie Callender’s to share this project with you. Thank you for supporting the brands that make Barefeet In The Kitchen possible. As always, all thoughts are my own.
