Fun Back-To-School Lunch Ideas {and healthy too!}

A Collection of Back-To-School Lunch Ideas by Barefeet In The Kitchen

It's that time of year! Summer is coming to an end, and the routine of life is returning.  School work, martial arts practice, library days, and Lego club keep us moving in my household this time of year. Ever notice that when life speeds up one of the easiest things to let slip is healthy eating habits? One way that I try to keep my children making healthy food choices is to plan simple and fun lunches.

Whether your kids are off to school, or at home, I hope these ideas make it easier for you to provide yourself and your kids some easy and healthy lunches. In an effort to keep my kids trying new foods I play with lots of different types of veggies and dips.  Everything is more tasty when you can dip it, right?

Stacking finger foods on sticks, or using little individual portion-sized cups and containers make lunch more appealing to small children who like to use their hands. I have to admit, the more colorful and creatively packed a lunch is, the more I enjoy it too.

Pair up a few foods with the dips of your choice. Grab some protein to go with it and you're good to go! I keep a few different dips in the refrigerator at all times to make things easy. Keeping a box of fresh vegetables and another one with fruits ready to eat in the refrigerator will help make packing the daily lunches quick and stress free!

Foods on a stick are always fun! Just load a few skewers with your favorite foods. When we're eating away from home, I use small lollipop sticks and they fit nicely into most containers.
