This cake. I'm still in awe of it. Start to finish, this beauty was decorated in way less than ten minutes. I'd tell you it was five minutes, but my personal learning curve for filling the decorating bag was a little steep. When I tell you that I am NOT a cake decorator, you really should believe me. However, this cake might fool you into thinking I have a clue what I am doing in the cake department. (Yes, if you look closely, you'll find a whole lot of mistakes, but me, I am giddy over it! It still looks 4,827,391 times better than any cake that has ever been made in my kitchen in the past!)
The Rose Cake decorating technique was created by the fantastically talented Amanda Retke. (And she is pretty darn famous for it!) I'm betting that Amanda could have decorated this cake in about 3 minutes with a hand tied behind her back, but I am still thrilled with my ten minute time. In addition to all of her talents, Amanda is one of the sweetest bloggers I've met since I started blogging. (And I can hardly wait to meet her in person this summer!)
If I can make this cake, ANYONE can. Seriously. I am the least talented cake decorator you'll ever meet and this cake decorating technique makes it look like I know my way around a piping bag. Check out the step by step tutorial here and prepare to be amazed by how EASY it is!
Amanda is one of the most creative and talented cake decorators around and she has just published a fantastic cookbook filled with the most unique cakes I've ever seen. I've flipped through my copy of Surprise Inside Cakes so many times now, I have a long list of cakes I want to try making!
Surprise Inside Cakes is filled with everything from beginner to expert level cake decorating tips, in addition to fantastic cake and frosting recipes for every occasion.
Now for my favorite part! Amanda is giving away a copy of Surprise Inside Cakes to one lucky Barefeet In The Kitchen reader. All you need to do to be entered to win is leave a comment on this post telling me YOUR favorite kind of cake! Make sure there is an email address included, so that I can contact the winner.
Giveaway CLOSED. Entry is limited to US residents only. I wish I could include everyone, but the legalities involved with international giveaways prevent me from doing that. Good Luck!
Disclosure: I received a copy of Surprise Insides cakes to review, however all thoughts and opinions are my own. #surpriseinsidecakes
