Pineapple Orange Julius Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 2 cups orange juice
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup frozen diced pineapple
  • 1 cup ice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • ¼ - 1/2 cup powdered sugar depends on your preference for sweetness I went for the full ½ cup

Instructions

  • This was a great and refreshing smoothie. Just the right blend of sweetness and citrus flavors.
  • The baby boy tried a smoothie (well, technically a few sips of mine) for the first time today and he was giddy over it. He was being silly and laughing the whole time. I couldn't resist taking a picture to share. Enjoy!

No raw egg? That is how I made it years ago. At about 15 I had my first Orange Julius and made my own version:

    2 cups orange juice
    1 cup vanilla ice cream
    1 cup ice
    1/2 cup granulated sugar
    1 raw egg
    1-2 teaspoon vanilla

    VERY smooth and creamy.

    Optional banana.

Yummm… this sounds healthy to me!! And that brought back memories of drinking that long ago! One of the first "smoothies"! Now as for the little boy, his smile just melted my heart!!

What an adorable little guy, with all those curls! I was going to say how great the Orange Julius sounds, but your little guy got all of my attention.

You are all so sweet! We think he's pretty cute too.
@North – a raw egg? Is that just how you prefer it or did the stores actually served them that way? I can't imagine any restaurant serving raw egg anything now. Although, ice cream might be a welcome addition to just about any kind of smoothie!

Egg was an option way back then. It has been a LONG time since I was at an OJ. I don't know when the eggs (as an option) went away.

A friend pointed out to me that my recipe is heavily loaded with sugar. I was a teen then. Could easily remove the sugar or make Splenda substitutions.

I'm so going to have to try this –have to find my blender first though. My son hides things, lol. Your little one is too adorable!
